Curbside Pickup:
Biodegradable yard waste bags will continue to be picked up curbside or alley side at no charge.

Drop-Off Options:
Residents may also bring yard waste to the Village Garage during the following hours:

  • Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Leaves and other yard waste should be placed in the designated yard waste dumpster.

Accepted Yard Waste Includes:

  • Leaves, grass clippings, and small twigs (no trash)

  • Hedge and bush trimmings

  • Small branches and limbs

  • Garden waste (trimmings, dead plants, etc.)

For larger limbs, please contact Public Works at (618) 259-8069 to arrange removal.

Note: Tree and landscape contractors are required to dispose of all yard waste at a licensed landfill — contractor dumping is not permitted at the Village site.

Bagged leaves and brush are collected on Mondays. Please note: this schedule may vary due to weather conditions, staffing, or other operational needs.

Leaves must be placed in biodegradable bags only — available at Ace Hardware, Walmart, and most major retailers.

If you choose to use the yard waste dumpster, please remove leaves from plastic bags or boxes before disposal. These containers interfere with proper yard waste recycling.

Thank you for helping us keep our community clean and environmentally responsible!

Residents are permitted to burn leaves on their own property between October 1 and March 31, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

However, the Village kindly asks that you do not rake or burn leaves in the street, as this can create safety hazards. Likewise, please avoid raking leaves into gutters, as they can block storm drains and cause flooding during rain.

Please note: All leaf burning is subject to approval by the Fire Department, which may restrict burning on days when conditions are unsafe.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our neighborhoods safe and clean.

The Village provides snow removal for cleaning the driveway approach for the elderly and handicapped citizens. To become eligible for this program, please contact the Municipal Garage at (618) 259-8069. This service will be provided after the snowplow crews have cleaned the village streets.

Remove all vehicles off the snow routes when accumulation exceeds two inches. Please try to move vehicles from the street as soon as possible even if it is not a snow route so the street can be cleaned curb to curb to help in parking problems. It is also suggested that all residents wait until the streets have been cleared of the snow and widened out before you clean your driveway approaches.

Contact the Municipal Garage at (618) 259-8069 for animal-related issues, such as stray dogs or cats. Hours are 7 AM-3 PM Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. After hours, in an emergency, such as a dog bite case, contact the Police Department at (618) 259-6212.

Dog and cat inoculations have been held at the end of April or the beginning of May. Please check the event calendar for the date.
