The East Alton Fire Department is a combination Fire Department. Its full-time staff includes Fire Chief, three Captains and three Engineers. The station is staffed 24 hours per day by two personnel, 365 days a year.

The department also is assisted by seven Paid-On-Call and seven Part-Time Firefighters, which are called upon to assist in fire responses. These firefighters are trained professionals much like the career members. All Firefighters go through a rigorous training program and become Basic Firefighters certified by the Illinois State Fire Marshals Office. Many also receive EMT-Basic Certifications.

The Fire Departments’ response area is approximately 5.475 square miles in size. A large part of our jurisdiction includes Olin Winchester and Wieland.

Our Station is located at 209 N. Shamrock and houses our truck fleet of one pumper and one 75-foot ladder truck.

The East Alton Fire Department responds to approximately 1500 calls per year with about 70% being Emergency Medical responses.

The East Alton Fire Department is always looking for anyone who may be able to participate in Paid-On-Call firefighter positions. We require a high level of physical agility and commitment, so, if you think you can make the grade, please stop in or give us a call. We’ll be glad to provide you with more information.
