Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)

My name is Officer Christian Cranmer with the East Alton Police Department. I am the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) instructor for the East Alton Police Department and the East Alton School District #13. In 2006, I received my certification to be a D.A.R.E. instructor and have been teaching D.A.R.E. in this community and others for the past nine (9) years.

The D.A.R.E. program is more than just drug awareness. D.A.R.E. helps educate the students on decision making, confidence building, and respect. In today’s society, law enforcement has unfortunately been categorized with a negative reputation. So having a police officer in the classroom helps strengthen the bond between the police department as a whole and the community.

It is my goal to go into every classroom in the East Alton School District and instill positivity in every child I come into contact with.  I teach the students that police officers are good people and should be considered a friend.
