The East Alton Fire Department operates as a combination fire department, comprising both career and part-time personnel. Our full-time staff includes a Fire Chief, three Captains, and three Engineers. The fire station is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a minimum of two personnel to ensure continuous emergency readiness.

In addition to our full-time team, the department is supported by seven Paid-On-Call and seven Part-Time Firefighters, who are mobilized as needed to assist in emergency response operations. All members—career and part-time—undergo extensive training and are certified as Basic Firefighters by the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office. Many of our personnel also hold EMT-Basic certifications, ensuring a high level of medical response capability.

Our service area spans approximately 5.475 square miles, encompassing key facilities such as Olin Winchester and Wieland, among others. The fire station, located at 209 N. Shamrock, houses our apparatus fleet, including a pumper engine and a 75-foot ladder truck, both ready for rapid deployment.

Each year, the East Alton Fire Department responds to an average of 1,500 calls, with approximately 70% classified as Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

We are always seeking highly motivated individuals interested in serving their community as Paid-On-Call Firefighters. This role requires a strong level of physical fitness, commitment, and dedication. If you’re ready for the challenge and eager to make a difference, we invite you to stop by the station or contact us directly for more information.
