FIREFIGHTER
The Village of East Alton, Illinois is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of FIREFIGHTER.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Over 21 and under 35 years of age, except as otherwise provided by Federal and State Statues
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Meet all standards as required by statutes, ordinance, and East Alton Fire & Police Commission regulations
- Capable of passing extensive background investigation
- Proof of current CPAT and EMT-B certifications must be submitted to the Village Clerk’s office by 4:30 PM on January 10, 2025
- Must live within 20 linear miles of the corporate limits 1 year of date of hire
All qualified applicants MUST be available for:

Orientation: Monday, October 28, 2024 at 6:00 PM
Written Test: Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 9:00 AM
Oral Interviews: November 20, 2024 beginning at 6:00 PM

ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER

Qualifications:
- Over 21 and under 35 years of age, except as otherwise provided by Federal and State Statutes.
- (Probationary Only) High School Diploma or GED with any one of the following:
- Two (2) year Associate Degree or the equivalent in college credits (60 semester credit hours or 90 quarterly hours);
- Prior law enforcement experience – One (1) year, full time, post-law enforcement academy experience with a recognized local, state or federal law enforcement agency; or
- Prior military experience – Two (2) years continuous active-duty experience with the United States Armed Forces and have, or are eligible to receive, an honorable discharge. (Candidates tested before discharge will be required to present an “honorable discharge” before hire).
- (Laterals Only) Must have been an active full-time police officer for a minimum of 24 months in another accredited law enforcement agency as defined by ILETSB
- Meet all standards as required by statutes, ordinance, and East Alton Fire & Police Commission regulations.
- Capable of passing extensive background investigation.
- (Probational Only) Able to provide a valid Power CARD at the time of testing
Important Dates:
- Acceptance of applications for probational will close: July 5th, 2024
- Written Test for probational employees: July 13th, 2024 at 8AM
- Oral Interviews for probational applicants: July 18th, 2024 at 5PM at the Village Hall (119 W Main St, East Alton, IL 62024)
