Utility Rates
(Updated July 2025)
Water, Sewer & Trash Rate Update
The Village of East Alton is committed to delivering high-quality water and reliable sewer services to our residents. Our rates are carefully set by the Village Board to reflect the true costs associated with maintaining and improving this essential infrastructure.
Recent adjustments to the rates, which have been approved and passed by the Village Board, help ensure we can continue to provide safe, clean water and efficient wastewater management, while preparing for future system demands and improvements.
What’s Changing:
-
Water and Sewer Rate Updates: New rates will go into effect for bills issued in October 2025 (even-month cycle) and November 2025 (odd-month cycle). The chart shown below (click to enlarge) has the new rate structures broken down so you can see the changes you can expect for your own bills.
-
Billing Schedule: Utility bills are issued bimonthly, meaning every other month. Residents are billed either during even-numbered months (February, April, June, etc.) or odd-numbered months (January, March, May, etc.) depending on their billing cycle.
-
$4 Technology Fee: A $4 technology fee will now be applied to each bimonthly bill. (What is a technology fee? It’s a fee necessary to offset the expenses related to the development, maintenance, and operation of our technology systems and infrastructure.)
-
Trash Service Changes: Trash service will transition to Republic Services starting September 1, 2025, but customers will still receive trash billing through the East Alton Water Department.
-
New Trash Rate: Trash service rates have increased to $44.00 bimonthly.
These changes are necessary to continue meeting service expectations, regulatory requirements, and infrastructure maintenance needs without compromising quality or reliability. We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we invest in the future of East Alton’s utility systems.
