The Village of East Alton is now accepting applications to establish eligibility lists for Probationary Police Officers and Lateral Police Officers.

ENTRY-LEVEL OFFICERS:

✅ 12 paid holidays

✅ $73,972 base pay
✅ Longevity pay based on years of service
✅ 20-mile residency requirement
✅ Take-home squad cars

LATERAL TRANSFERS:
✅ 12-hour work schedule

✅ Vacation based on years of service (up to 8 years)
✅ 100% employee paid healthcare premium
✅ $73,972 base pay

QUALIFICATIONS

Probationary Applicants:
• Must be over 21 and under 35 (unless otherwise allowed by law)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid POWER Card at the time of testing
• Able to pass an extensive background investigation
• Must meet all standards required by statute, ordinance, and the East Alton Fire & Police Commission

Lateral Applicants:
• Must be over 21 (age limit exceptions per law)
• At least 24 months of full-time police experience in an ILETSB-accredited agency
• Able to pass an extensive background investigation
• Must meet all standards required by statute, ordinance, and the East Alton Fire & Police Commission

Important Dates for Probationary Applicants:
• Application deadline: Friday, July 10, 2026 at 5:00 PM
• Written Exam: Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 9:00 AM
• Oral Interviews: Saturday, July 18, 2026 to follow
