About the Village Clerk
The office of the Village Clerk is charged with the responsibility of maintaining and preserving books, records, papers, maps, and other effects belonging to the Village. In being the custodian of the official records of the community, the Clerk manages and records public notices, resolutions, ordinances, and official business taken during meetings. The Village Clerk can also provide information and assistance for services such as notary public & voter registration.
Services
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA): The Village Clerk is responsible for FOIA requests. Requests for records may be made in person or emailed to lpalmer@villageofeastaltonil.gov.
Business Licensing: Business licensing is required for, but not limited to: arcade amusements, circuses, carnivals, billboards/outdoor sign advertisers, itinerant merchants (foodstuffs), dairies, some retail delivery trucks, coffee & tea solicitors, jukeboxes, coin-operated amusement devices, cigarette machines, peddlers of general merchandise, skating rinks & gum/candy machines.
Hunting & Fishing License: Illinois hunting and fishing licenses are available in the Village Clerk’s office during regular business hours. Identification is required.
Garage & Yard Sale Permits: Click here for a Garage/Yard Sale Permit. Garage/Yard Sale Permits are also available in the Village Clerk’s office. There is no charge for the permit. Two permits are allowed per year.
Voter Registration: Voter registration is available in the Village Clerk’s office. Two forms of identification, one with a current address, are required. If your name has changed or if you have recently moved, even within the village limits, you must register at your current address.
Notary Services: Notary Public service is available at no charge to village residents. A photo ID with a signature is required.
Street Light Repair: To report a street light out contact Ameren IL at (800) 755-5000. Please give an exact location, if possible. Examples: In front of 123 E. Main St., the rear of 123 W. Main St. or 3rd pole east of the intersection of Main and Broadway Sts.
