ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER

Qualifications:

  1. Over 21 and under 35 years of age, except as otherwise provided by Federal and State Statutes.
  2. (Probationary Only) High School Diploma or GED with any one of the following:
    • Two (2) year Associate Degree or the equivalent in college credits (60 semester credit hours or 90 quarterly hours);
    • Prior law enforcement experience – One (1) year, full time, post-law enforcement academy experience with a recognized local, state or federal law enforcement agency; or
    • Prior military experience – Two (2) years continuous active-duty experience with the United States Armed Forces and have, or are eligible to receive, an honorable discharge. (Candidates tested before discharge will be required to present an “honorable discharge” before hire).
  3. (Laterals Only) Must have been an active full-time police officer for a minimum of 24 months in another accredited law enforcement agency as defined by ILETSB
  4. Meet all standards as required by statutes, ordinance, and East Alton Fire & Police Commission regulations.
  5. Capable of passing extensive background investigation.
  6. (Probational Only) Able to provide a valid Power CARD at the time of testing
